Rated as the #1 golf resort in the world by Golf Digest, Bandon Dunes Resort give you an “across the pond” golf experience with 85 holes of pure links golf. This walking-only facility borders the Oregon coastline, boasting endless views of the Pacific Ocean. This is the first NCGA member trip to Bandon Dunes, but it certainly won’t be the last.
This late 1920’s Sam Whiting design is a true gem in the central valley. The home course of Ricky Barnes, the club has also played host to some of the greats including Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Ben Hogan. A brand new clubhouse was built in 2003 to support the championship level golf course.
Silver Creek Valley CC recently underwent a redesign by acclaimed golf course architect Mike Strantz. The course presents players with an extreme mental test, as visually demanding hole layouts preside throughout. Although errant shots may be penalized, the panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and of the city of San Jose give players more than enough reason to attend this Outing. This is the first time SCVCC has hosted an NCGA Members-Only Outing.
With over a century of history, San Jose CC is the 4th oldest club in northern California and a founding member of the NCGA. The course is a 1912 “classic” design, boasting tree lined fairways, though redesigns in 1936 and 1997 have brought a touch of Scotland to the Club. You won’t want to miss the chance to play at this esteemed club.
Bring a guest and test your skills on the course the celebrities play. Host of the American Century Celebrity Championship, the Edgewood Tahoe course runs along Lake Tahoe and offers breathtaking views of both mountain and sea. Discount hotel nights are available by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
Montreux is the host venue of the PGA Tour’s Reno-Tahoe Open, and this outing allows the rare opportunity to play where the pros play. This 1997 Jack Nicklaus design is touted as one of his favorites. Discount hotel nights are available by contacting email@example.com
Ruby Hill GC was the first Jack Nicklaus signature designed course in northern California. A frequent host site for US Open local qualifiers, Ruby Hill offers a very challenging golf experience. The course incorporates several water features, towering oaks, and majestic views of the valley. Panoramic views of Mt. Diablo abound here, as does a breathtaking clubhouse to await you at this Outing.
World renowned Scottish golf course architect David McLay Kidd created a gem with TPC Stonebrae. Kidd was the designer of the original Bandon Dunes course, and parts of that course are mimicked in the TPC Stonebrae design. Sweeping panoramic views of the San Francisco bay area and a links-feel course with plenty of bite should certainly make it on your golf calendar this year. A brand new clubhouse will also be opened in mid-2014.
Located in the heart of wine country, Napa Valley CC is set amongst beautiful oak trees and rolling hills. Each nine presents its own set of unique challenges, as they allow the golfer two distinctly different styles of golf. Slightly elevated tees, rolling fairways and challenging greens set the backdrop for another great Member Outing in the Napa Valley.
Course architect Alister MacKenzie touted this layout as his favorite, even above Augusta National and Cypress Point Club. It is ranked in the top 3 of “Best courses you can play in California” by Golf Digest.
This newly remodeled championship course used to host an LPGA tour event. Round Hill boasts in its superb conditions year-round, making it an enjoyable experience for all golfers. The course winds between longstanding trees and lakes, with challenging yet fair greens awaiting your approach shots. Come play Round Hill CC and see why it is one of the best courses in the bay area.
Lake Merced is continually a favorite among Outings each year, and fills up very quickly for good reason. Considered one of the greatest layouts in California, the course has had alterations done by both McKenzie and Rees Jones. Located in the heart of San Francisco, Lake Merced GC will be one of the most enjoyable golf experiences you have ever had.
